The Galaxy Watch FE may have been revealed on Samsung's own website

Summary

  • Rumor has it that Samsung will launch a new budget Galaxy Watch FE model during the Unpacked event in early July.
  • The company's support pages in the UK and Latin America feature the model number SM-R861, which previously appeared in a Galaxy Watch FE leak.
  • The budget Galaxy Watch FE may share similarities with the Galaxy Watch 4 series, offering a new option for cost-conscious consumers.

There's just over a month left until Samsung's Unpacked event, where it will unveil a handful of devices, including the latest addition to the Galaxy Watch lineup. But if the rumors so far are true, the mid-year Unpacked event could be a little different this time, especially when it comes to smartwatches, as the company is reportedly preparing a new low-cost Galaxy Watch FE (Fan Edition) model. Thanks to Samsung's own website, we now have more information on this particular smartwatch, which will launch next month.

Samsung is working on a cheaper smartwatch and we're pretty excited

Samsung UK and Latin America now have support pages for a Samsung smartwatch with model number SM-R861 (via MySmartPrice). Interestingly, both sites seem to still be online, although they will likely be shut down on Monday. The model number SM-R861 had already appeared in an FCC listing last month, confirming this particular revelation.

Probably Galaxy Watch FE support pages from Samsung UK and Latin America

There's not much more we can glean from these Samsung support pages, as they're relatively empty and mostly contain standard FAQs about Galaxy Watch models. However, this is the best confirmation we can get from Samsung about the Galaxy Watch FE's arrival, especially more than a month before launch. However, we expect more detailed leaks to surface throughout June.

What we know so far about the Galaxy Watch FE

Unfortunately, details about this budget Galaxy Watch model were relatively scarce. But one of the first leaks about the Galaxy Watch FE revealed three model numbers – SM-R866F, SM-R866UAnd SM-R866N — which suggests that this upcoming smartwatch could be quite similar to the Galaxy Watch 4 from 2021 (SM-R860).

It's too early to say whether these theories will hold up when Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy Watch 7 series (which is also rumored to have an Ultra variant coming this year), but given the huge demand for affordable smartwatches around the world, a cheaper Galaxy Watch model makes sense.

In addition to these smartwatches, the Unpacked event on July 10 will also (rumored) unveil the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices. Samsung will also officially unveil the long-awaited Galaxy Ring at the event, which was briefly teased by the company earlier this year but has yet to launch.
