RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Region Tourism has announced the opening of a new visitor center in the lobby of Valentine this fall.

The Valentine Museum, located at 1015 E. Clay St., welcomed more than 25,000 guests last year, according to a Richmond Region Tourism news release. Nearly half of those came from outside the Richmond region.

“The Valentine is an incredible cultural institution that offers visitors the opportunity to learn about Richmond's rich history,” said Jack Berry, president and CEO of Richmond Region Tourism, in the press release. “Our talented travel advisors will help guests continue that journey of discovery by sharing all that our region has to offer.”

By opening a visitor center in the museum lobby, Richmond Region Tourism can have specialists on site to help tourists make the most of their visit.

According to the press release, they can provide recommendations for attractions and give tourists tips on things to do in the area, such as visiting local businesses.

The new visitor center is scheduled to open in September. It will join Richmond Region Tourism's two other visitor centers: one located in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Robinson House and the other at Richmond International Airport.
