3 outstanding players at the Green Bay Packers minicamp

The Green Bay Packers concluded their 2024 offseason program with the completion of their mandatory minicamp, capping a multi-phase training program that began in April. This extensive program included strength and conditioning training, individual workouts, team drills, and voluntary and mandatory drills.

It's important to remember that these are practices without protective gear, but the Packers have managed to carry the momentum they built at the end of last season into the summer. The team is already coming together and the potential of this young group is palpable. Expectations are huge as they take a short break before training camp.

But it wasn't just the usual suspects making waves in minicamp. Several players who aren't as well-known are doing their best to make a name for themselves. Here are three standouts from the Packers' minicamp, from underdogs to future stars.

Carrington Valentine is in a fierce battle with Eric Stokes for the starting outside cornerback spot opposite Jaire Alexander. With Alexander missing minicamp, both candidates have had plenty of opportunities to showcase their skills.

Valentine, who was expected to bulk up in the offseason, returned to the team in great shape, with head coach Matt LaFleur and the coaching staff raving about the transformation of the 2023 seventh-round pick.

Valentine's added strength is crucial to new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley's scheme, which emphasizes aggressiveness and physicality. This change in approach could be a perfect fit for Valentine, as he has already shown signs of strength and ability in his rookie season.

Although he still has a long way to go, Valentine was able to build on his promising rookie season and showcase his newfound physicality in minicamp, giving him a strong chance in the ongoing battle for a starting spot.
